Glienicke Bridge

... crosses the River Havel on the outskirts of Berlin. During the Cold War, the Havel at this point formed part of the border between West Berlin and East Germany. Several 'spy swaps' took place at the Glienicke Bridge; the best–publicised of them was the exchange of Gary Powers for the Soviet spy Rudolf Abel (real name Vilyam Genrikhovich Fisher, or William August Fisher). The Glienicke became known as the Bridge of Spies, and this name was used as the title of the 2015 film telling the story of the Powers–Abel swap.

Immediately before the Powers–Abel swap, the US graduate student Frederic Pryor was released by the Soviets – but at Checkpoint Charlie (this being the name given by the Allies to the best–known crossing of the Berlin Wall).

"Bridge of Spies" was accepted as an alternative answer to this question – but not "Checkpoint Charlie".
